I will lead students in a close reading of two novels over the course of ten weeks this summer, beginning the week of June 1.
We will meet online via Zoom each Thursday at 5:30pm for a discussion of the text.
Reservation Blues by Sherman Alexie
The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy
Students are welcome to “read” via audiobook though I think they’ll get more out of the text if they read along as well as listen.
This is a free course, there are no grades, and the goal is to encourage a love of reading and engagement with literature.
About Kafah
Kafah Bachari was born in Iran and raised in Texas. Her writing focuses on issues of memory, myth, identity, religion, and history within Iran and the Iranian American diaspora. Kafah is always currently at work on a novel which follows the lives and fractured memories of a Baha’i family from Tehran. Her stories have appeared in Ploughshares, the Tin House blog, and elsewhere. Kafah lives in Pearland with her husband, two sons, and a pair of silly dogs.
